Chandlers Fan of the Month: February 2012

Congratulations to Kris Perdew who won a dinner for two at Chandlers, plus a night at the Hotel 43.

Here is his story submitted through our Facebook page…

Back in 2010, I was living in Orlando, Florida. I had been single since 2004, and had pretty much resigned myself to the idea that I would probably spend the rest of my life as a single man. I spent a lot of my free time listening to music on a website called blip.fm. On that site, you select songs that you want to play, and other ‘blippers’ are able to comment, or give you a ‘thumbs-up’, based on your musical selections (much like facebook posts). Around mid-July of 2010, I began to get a lot of positive feedback about my music from a blipper named ‘tammik’. I checked out her playlist, and was impressed with her taste in music (I put a LOT of stock in that sort of thing). A link to her facebook page was posted on her blip.fm profile page – I checked it out, and found out her name was Tammi. I ‘friended’ her on facebook, and we began a facebook friendship. Our facebook friendship evolved into frequent emails, and later on to nightly marathon phone conversations. Even though those phone calls went on deep into the night, they never got old or boring – - – instead they caused me to fall for her – bigtime. As the days and weeks went by, we got to know every little thing about each other. One night, we were discussing our mutual fear of remarrying, and I said to Tammi, “You know what? I’d marry you.” Tammi echoed my sentiments, telling me she’d love to marry me! After extensive further discussion, we decided that we would indeed get married, and I would move to Idaho (Kuna, to be exact). So, on September 17, 2010, I flew from Orlando to Boise. When I got off the plane, I would be face-to-face with Tammi for the FIRST time. As I walked through the airport, I spotted her! I walked up to her, dropped my carry-on bag, and we kissed. After our first kiss, I looked into her beautiful blue eyes, and KNEW that I had done the right thing. Later that afternoon, we exchanged wedding vows! Tammi is everything I ever hoped for in a wife: best friend, a fantastic mom to her kids, smart, funny, beautiful…all that rolled into one. I had never believed in the concept of a soulmate until I met and married Tammi. I am very, very fortunate to be married to this wonderful woman.

P.S. – she says your chocolate souffle is the best thing she has EVER tasted!

Chandlers Fan of the Month: December 2012

Here is her story: She was nominated by Amber Williams, a friend on our Facebook page…

I would like to nominate my friend DaNay Martin-Salas and her husband Nick Salas into your Christmas competition. they don’t know I am doing this, but I think it is important that they be considered for many reasons, some I can and cannot disclose, but will do my best to explain:

DaNay and Nick for as long as I can remember, have always put themselves aside to help others in a manner that was way beyond the call of duty as they have their own things to deal with. Example: DaNay and Nick have 3 children they are devoted to and on top of being an amazing parents, they take care of DaNay’s mother in home, who has been battling cancer on and off for years now. Despite having many battles from childhood to now, both always display nothing but a forgiving and giving heart and would literally take the shirts off their back to help anyone in need! They have never been rich financially (and most often times have struggled!), but they are always rich in love and support and give it freely to their family and friends with no strings attached!

Chandlers Facebook fan of the Month - December 2012They have made an MAJOR impact on my life as well! Prior to moving to England and meeting the love of my life, I was in a horrible relationship that was very much abusive physically, mental and emotionally. With the help of my friends DaNay and Nick, I was literally able to break free from that relationship and grow in confidence and self-esteem that led me to later move on to something much more amazing, and gave me the courage to pursue real love and take a chance in moving from Boise Idaho to England to be with what I consider, my now soul mate.

There are many many more reason I feel these two deserve to win a meal and a night with you, but I hope what I have disclosed can make you see that though this family has had very difficult and real problems of their own, they always selflessly put themselves aside to also be a wonderful support to their friends and family! I really and truely hope that you seriously consider them for your prize winnings as it would be a wonderful and well deserved Christmas present to them as theyare always put their needs and money aside to help others.

Chandlers Fan of the Month: July 2012

Congratulations to Scott Sprague who won a dinner for two at Chandlers, plus a night at the Hotel 43.

Here’s Scott’s post from July…

Chandlers Facebook Fan of the Month July 2012
I’ve enjoyed many dinners at Chandler’s but there is one that stood out. During the end of November of last year, an importer of Italian wine was with me and we decided to enjoy a meal at your restaurant. Owning to my friend’s knowledge of wine, he selected the 2006 Produttori del Barbaresco Barbaresco off of the list and we enjoyed truffle oil fries as an appetizer. In our discussions, the conversation swung back to the perfect Italian wines for steak. While the Barbaresco paired beautifully with the fries, we thought something with a bit more heft would be great for steak. My friend then told me of the most perfect pairing he’s ever had – Brunello di Montacino and “Bistecca Florentina”: a simply prepared t-bone cut of a heritage breed called Chianina. Our server overheard this and said he could let the chefs know if we wanted to try a version of it (minus the heritage breed, of course). We quickly agreed and gave the server instructions to pass on to the kitchen. Meanwhile, my friend produces a bottle of 2006 Argiano Brunello di Montalcino from his bag and says if we’re going to do this, might as well do it right. What followed was one of the most memorable dinning experiences of my life. The steak was cooked perfectly with high quality olive oil and a dash of fleur de sel lightly covering the meat. Food and wine pairings are interesting and sometimes very difficult to master. That evening, perfection was achieved. Cheers to a memorable evening!

Chandlers Fan of the Month: June 2012

Congratulations to Belinda Swope McNamara who won a dinner for two at Chandlers, plus a night at the Hotel 43.

Here’s Belinda’s post from June…

I was talking with my friend from Nashville Tennessee.
He mentioned he was on his way to Boise to Hotel 43.
He asked me for recommendations on dinner and immediately, I knew of a winner.
I said Chandler’s of course, it’s the best;
So he jumped in his plane and flew from East to the West.
I entered the bar, all dressed up and hot.
He sat down beside me and asked, Wine or a shot?
We talked for a bit and moved to a booth.
Our waiter then served us with the utmost of Couth.
The music was soothing and the food was on the spot.
This atmosphere was amazing I liked it a lot.
Above and beyond is the Chandler’s way.
Everything was perfect what a wonderful day.
Nothing was missed, our needs were all met.
Looking to the future, another date has been set.

– Belinda Swope McNamara

Congratulations to ten-year-old Gabi Souza! Gabi won a dinner for two at Chandlers, plus a night at the Hotel 43.

Here’s Gabi’s post from March…

Facebook Fan of the Month March 2012I went to Chandler’s for my birthday
It was the first time I had ever been.
It was the only time I’ll ever turn ten.

I didn’t know what to expect inside,
I walked through the door and heard the bass.
I think everyone could see the smile on my face.

We sat down at our table.
I saw the beautiful flower.
For an appetizer we had the Tuna Tower.

Next comes the salad,
It was really good food.
I was in a great mood.

I had ordered the duck.
When I had it, I wanted to rejoice.
I had made the right choice.

Last came dessert.
I had Chocolate Souffle.
It was for my birthday.

I went to Chandler’s for my birthday.
It was the first time I had ever been.
It was the only time I’ll ever turn ten.

I can’t wait to go again.

Congratulations to Jackie Beverage! Jackie won a dinner for two at Chandlers, plus a night at the Hotel 43.

Here’s one of Jackie’s recent posts on our Facebook page in February…

“Today is our 29th Anniversary! When we married 29 years ago, there wasn’t a lot of money in our budget and so my co-workers pooled together to give us a night in a hotel as a wedding gift! That night was spent at what is now Hotel 43! It has been a long road for us, and as we care for our youngest son who is disabled, in our home, we don’t often get a night on the town, let alone a night in a hotel room by ourselves. I know I should have submitted this a little sooner, but it would still be so nice to celebrate with my sweetie once again and to spend another night in the place where we “honeymooned” and enjoy a delicious dinner at Chandler’s, just the two of us!”

Chandlers Fan of the Month: January 2012

Congratulations to Jaime Kline! Jaime won a dinner for two at Chandlers, plus a night at the Hotel 43.

Here’s one of Jaime’s recent posts on our Facebook page in January…

“I have heard such wonderful things about Chandlers Steakhouse and thought it would be a great opportunity to share my story. My husband and I have been married almost 14 years and we have eight children. Yep, eight! Date nights are few and far between. The last time we stayed in a hotel was our wedding night! We have great kids and are so proud of them. Our days are busy and some days we live in the car. The laundry bin is never empty and their is always a dish in the sink. But we wouldn’t change a thing. I would love to have my next date night with you!.”

Chandlers Fan of the Month: December 2011

Congratulations to Denyce Drinkall! Denyce won a dinner for two at Chandlers, plus a night at the Hotel 43.

Here’s one of Denyce’s recent posts on our Facebook page in December…

“My husband and I have been together for 33 years and back in the day, he was very much a part of the live music scene in Boise. He’s always loved jazz and a great steak. In April, I decided it was time for a night out for the two of us as his health was becoming an issue and not really able to get out of the house much. We had a Friday night reservation and the evening could not have been more perfect. Not only was the staff at Chandler’s doing everything to accommodate his needs, but the food was exceptional. After dinner we were amazed to see a table in the lounge open up right in front of the band where we finished out the night listening to John Jone’s group. He had played music with John many years ago and loved his new band. Our new memories are few and far between, but the night at Chandler’s was very, very special to us. When people ask where to go in Boise, there’s no hesitation — it IS Chandler’s without a doubt! Thank you for making our night one of the most perfect times we had this year. It could not have been better.”
– Denyce Drinkall

Chandlers Fan of the Month: November 2011

Congratulations to Rachel Larson Wurzer! Rachel won a dinner for two at Chandlers, plus a night at the Hotel 43.

Here’s one of Rachel’s recent posts on our Facebook page in November…

“Last February, my husband and I spent our five year anniversary with a night out at Chandlers and Hotel 43. This was our first date night in at least a year, and the first time seeing each other in THREE months! My husband has worked in North Dakota for almost three years now. Up until March of this year we had been doing the long distance thing, only seeing each other every two or three months for a couple of days at a time. As hard as this was for us to be apart, we also have two little girls who were really missing their daddy. We decided we couldn’t live like that anymore and had to be under the same roof again. The housing in ND is pretty much non existent because of the oil boom, so we decided to buy a fifth wheel camper. So for the past year and a half the four of us have been living in our camper! That basically translates into, no alone time for my husband and I. We love our kids more than anything but we also need time to be a couple. The only time we get a date night is when we go back to Idaho to visit family, which for me and my husband to both get down there only happens once or twice a year. We need a date night and I can’t think of a better one than dinner at Chandlers and a night at Hotel 43. We had the most amazing time when we went for our anniversary! We still talk about it. The drinks are amazing, the food is to die for and the hotel is a perfect end to a perfect night. Is it bad that we had more fun on our five year anniversary than we did at our wedding? Or maybe it means we are doing something right! We would love to recreate that night!”

Chandlers Fans of the Month: October 2011

Congratulations to Erin Miller Jones and Todd Campbell! This month we selected two winners to be the Chandlers Facebook Fan(s) of the Month! Erin and Todd each won a dinner for two at Chandlers, plus a night at the Hotel 43.

Here are the compelling stories they submitted on our Facebook page in October…

“I have to start this out by admitting I’ve never actually been to Chandlers. But its not for lack of wanting to go. For over a year and a half my husband and I have been working our behinds off trying to become debt free. We’ve paid off tens of thousands of dollars in that time and didn’t have the budget for a nice restaurant. In that time we’ve pretty much only stepped foot into restaurants we received gift cards to. When we first started our financial diet we decided that when the day finally came that we were out of debt we would treat ourselves and our family to a fabulous dinner in Boise’s finest restaurant. From everything I’ve heard, that’s Chandler’s! After 19 long months that day is finally here. At the end of November my husband and I have reservations for a party of six. We are taking my parents and his parents out to a lovely dinner paid for by us and us alone. We are also celebrating my mom’s 61st birthday and my mother-in-law’s retirement all occurring that same week. I am very much looking forward to celebrating our new found financial freedom with an amazing meal I didn’t have to cook myself and a glass of nice wine that didn’t come from a cardboard box. We can’t wait to experience all Chandlers has to offer :)
– Erin Miller Jones

“19 years ago in Oct. I married my beautiful wife then ten months later I was deployed to SW Asia missing our first and second anniversary. For our third, fourth, and fifth I was either removing snow or involved in base wide exercises. For the eighth I was sent to S. Korea. For the ninth I wad unemployeed. Tenth rolles around and I am recalled back to active duty to fight the War on Terror where the next two were spent. 2004 rolls around and I was released for active duty in Sept. disabled and unemployed until 2005. 2006-07 work has always prevented us from celebrating our anniversary. 2008-present unemployed once again. I do not regret serving my country but I do regret not being able to celebrate our wedding anniversary.”
– Todd Campbell

“My husband and I love Chandlers. We always make plans to go for our birthdays, our wedding anniversary in May and other special occasions. The staff there have always been kind and gracious to us and the food is superb. Here’s my story: a couple years ago my husband had surgery a month before our anniversary. He could not eat anything that was solid but we still wanted to go to Chandlers. So I went to Chandlers in advance and asked if they could make a custom “soft” menu for us. We had Hawaiian Ahi Tuna, Day Boat Scallops, Creamed Corn, Creamed Spinach, Fromage Blanc Cheesecake and House-made Ice Cream. Thank you, Chandlers! Posted a picture too. :)

“My wife and I had the pleasure of spending out 18 wedding anniversary celebration at Chandler’s. We were greeted by Paul Delgado and seated in a wonderful location near the entertainment in the dining area. This was our first time at Chandler’s. Rob Shaffer was our “Cuisine Choreographer” and he did a great job informing us of the Chef’s Special items for the evening. Rob was attentive, witty and very charming. As it turned out we enjoyed the escargot and artichoke as appetizers. This was followed by the Limousine Salad. The Roquefort dressing was a real treat. We then were treated with Butterscotch Crème Brulee. I hope we get the opportunity to visit Chandlers in the near future to experience the entire menu. Thanks again Rob for providing us with superior service that created a memorable event on our anniversary celebration.”

“My husband took me to Chandler’s by surprise. We had just had a baby and my husband surprised me by making me get dressed up and then he blindfolded me and drove me there. I had wanted to go there forever so I was super stoked when he took …off the blindfold and I was at Chandlers. I got the porterhouse, potatoes, and mushrooms. It was so delicious! My husband then surprised me by having planned for us to stay in one of Hotel 43′s suites for the night. It was incredibly romantic!!! I have a picture that I’ll post but I look silly in it. But the food was amazing!!! Best steak ever!”
