Raise a glass to Chandlers Steakhouse; in fact, raise two glasses!

Richard Moore, wine director at Chandlers, recently earned his Certificate of Sommelier diploma from the Court of Masters Sommeliers, and Chandlers earned its sixth consecutive Best of Award of Excellence from Wine Spectator magazine.

According to Wine Spectator, the Best of Award of Excellence certifies that the restaurant’s wine list displays excellent breadth across multiple wine-growing regions and pairs wines well with the cuisine. Making the list verifies that a restaurant is a destination for serious wine lovers, as it shows “a deep commitment to wine, both in the cellar and through their knowledgeable service staff.”

“Making the Wine Spectator Restaurant Awards list for the sixth year in a row is truly an honor,” owner Rex Chandler said. “It’s no small feat, and reflects our commitment to an exemplary wine program.”

In fact, Chandlers is regularly awarded for its excellence. Chandlers has won the Best of Award of Excellence since 2013. This year, the award was given to only 1,215 restaurants worldwide, just two of which are in the state of Idaho.
“We could not be more proud of Richard,” Chandler said. “His mastery and prowess set us apart from the other restaurants in the region. Nowhere else can you get the extensive selection and expert recommendations you’ll get here.”’

For guests ordering by the glass or by the bottle, Moore’s skill set comes in handy when helping customers choose the best wine for their tastes from a list of over 7,000 bottles from 750 international and local labels.

“Having Idaho wines in-house has always been a point of pride for us,” Chandler said. “We carry wines from all corners of the earth, but it is important to us to embrace our local flavor.”

At Chandlers, the commitment to fostering Idaho’s wine industry doesn’t stop on the wine list. Every Monday during the month of June, Idaho Wine Month, Chandlers hosts local Winemaker Dinners. Each evening includes a winemaker from a local winery along with a five-course dinner featuring Idaho-sourced ingredients.

“We appreciate all the support Chandlers gives the Idaho wine industry,” Idaho Wine Commission Executive Director Moya Shatz Dolsby said. “It’s great to see them go above and beyond for Idaho Wine Month.”

Since part of the Wine Spectator Restaurant Awards selection process includes a focus on cuisine, we would be remiss to ignore the classic and refined cuisine featured at Chandlers. The restaurant sets the gold standard as Boise’s best for specialty prime cuts of beef, such as American and authentic Japanese Wagyu, as well as an incredible jet-fresh seafood program featuring wild-caught Hawaiian fish.

“We’re committed to giving our guests a superlative culinary experience,” Chandler said. “You will understand on your first visit why Chandlers is a consistent award-winning mainstay and the go-to fine-dining establishment in Boise.”
